Can I put all live rock in at once?? hurry!

My LFS is having a 40% off sale this weekend and I had just set up my tank w/ saltwater and sand but no rock. If I put in 40lbs (46 gallon bowfront) of rock, will the ammonia spike kill most of the rock? My friend has a wet/dry on his reef and I was wondering if I took some of his biomedia and put it in my sump if that would stop a large portion of the spike?

The seeded media from your friends tank will help a lot, good idea.

I think you should be OK. Every tank is dfferent. When I started out my previous reef tank, I added all my rock at the same time and never got an amonia spike.

You could have a lot of waste in your water or it could be fine. Alot of it has to do with if the rock is cured or uncured. Uncured rock will hurt your water quality for a while and smell bad. Cured rock will do much less damage to your water.
