Can I use crushed seashells in my calcium reactor?

I am staying on the beach in florida for two months & my kids like to collect seashells.

I could easily get a 5 Gal bucket full ( with free shipping back to colorado ).

Would the seashells dissolve in my CA reactor if I crushed them up pretty good, or is it a waste of time?

They likely will work, yes. Depending on whether there is any organic material left on or in them, and whether they contain much phosphate in the structure, however, you may see some phosphate release.
