Can I use kold ster-il cartridges in a RODI setup?

I'm thinking of switching to using the kold ster-il system for filtration in order to stop having to waste so much water. Someone recently suggested I use the canisters from my RODI system and simply bypass the RO membrane. This would (theoretically) allow me to avoid having to buy the kold ster-il system as I would only need the filter media. Another benefit is that I could still run the water through the DI resin as a last stage.

Basically, I would replace my first 3 stages of my RODI with the 3 filtration packs from kold ster-il, bypass the RO membrane, and go directly to the DI resin as a final stage. Would this work?

Yes, but you need to know what the TDS of your water is. If it is over say 5-10 (and I bet it is way over that), you will burn through your DI very quickly. That is more expensive than the wasted water.
