Can Majanos and Zoas co-exist? (PIC Incl)

I just got a really nice colony of orange zoas with quite a few majano anemones on the rock. They don't look like either are bothering each other, but has anyone else had experience of them co-existing peacefully?

The reason I ask this is because I actually like the look of the majano anemone. Do they walk around like a BTA or will they stay stationary?

Either way, I think that I might take them off of the rock.

I had some with some zoa's also. I left them on the rock for about a year lol and the majanos did'nt really reproduce that much. I ended up with 3 after a yr.

About 2 months ago or so I decided I better move the majanos (although they didnt seem to be bothering the zoa's)
My majanos are green with a pink center and like you I hated to kill them lol so put them on a rock near the bottom of the tank away from everything. I think I now have about 6 of them and they could possibly pose a problem.
Mine havent popped up all over the tank though like aptasia do. They are all on the rock I put them by so far.

I'd say if you like them do as I did and keep an eye on them.
Others would say nuke them now lol.
I would move them off the rock with the zoa's as they could be stinging them.

The majanos are very aggresive and will overpower the zoanthids.
They will spread everywhere and you will soon have many more majanos than zoanthids.

I agree, while they may not seem like a problem now, they could become a problem when they take over your whole tank in a few months... Joe's Juice works really well on them by the way

I enjoyed them for awhile but had to make a choice.

No more mojanos.

I got a majano on a very large zoanthid rock about 16 months ago. While it does aggrivate the zoanthids nearby it, it doesn't kill them. It has split 4 times in the 16 months, 2 are currently on the rock, the other 3 were manually removed. They do walk, and they walk very fast. I have seen one move more than 2 feet in one day, and it did a good amount of damage to a Montipora digitata in the process.

I do not agree about Joe's Juice, it will burn off their tenticles and they will not open for a week or so, but unless they are already unhealthy, they will not die from it. It's much easier and there's no risk of collateral damage if they are manually removed. I use 10" tongs, grasp the stalk, and try to shear it off the substrate. This works much better if you can catch the majano in the action of moving.

I agree... I usually kill all but one the tank as a part of my maintenance routine because they will sting the crap out of my little coral babies of every type... I also have one in my refugium so that if I kill them all in the main tank I still can look at one of them...
