My RO/DI unit is downstairs and I'm sick of going back and forth with buckets...What size pump would I need to be able to get about 25 feet and it will elevate about 12 ft...Can anyone calculate the amount of pressure I'll need...Thanks!

because there would be a tube going all through my house and where my RO comes out is still 20ft to get to underneath my tank and then I'd have to drill through everything, etc...It wouldn't work

Are you just going to run tubing up the stairs when you need it? If that's the case, just get a pump that's rated for 5 or 10 gpm at about 20' TDH.

There is a head loss calculator on the front page of reefcentral. I have found it handy in determing how much water is being moved.

I use a pump for filling water beds and hook up a garden hose to it. Never had a with it so far almost 2 years on it just rinse it with fresh water after pumping saltwater through it.I can get you the brand name and model if you like.

It would be really easy to get a plastic ro/di line up there and not be seen at all. I used to install cable and satellite on Tues/Thurs when I first opened my practice and it would be easier than a coax cable to hide and fish through walls.

Obviously, it wouldn't be impossible but it would have to go through 3 finished rooms and up a level and number one I think it would be very dificult and number two, I really don't need that...I do water changes every 10 days and I figured I can just pump out 25% and pump 25% back in...That calculator is confusing...Might just be me

Iwaki 30 RZT
12 feet vertical plus 25 feet horizontal on 3/4 " diameter garden hose 14 ft head pressure.
Volume at 230 to 250 gph
Note there are three different versions of this pump. You need the ZT version with maximum head pressure of 37 ft
You will need to provide the means to turn off the pump from upstairs or just put a valve at the hose outlet shut it off and run down stairs to shut it off.

I'm changing my main pump out for an external iwaki40 I have already. I'm going to stick my mag 9.5 on that 75rr freshwater and if the one on the freshwater tank works, you can have it when I change it out. I wouldn't leave it submerged in saltwater for long times and then rinse it after since it's not a mag impeller but for the 10 minutes every couple weeks with a rinse it would work for years.

I forgot roy...One of the other reasons is that I want to go to a 9.5 or 12 on my return and I'll try my mag 7 so either way I have to buy another pump...I appreciate the offer and my PM still stands...Just let me know
