that was quick
but heres the thing
its got a hump kind of thing like the pepermint and sexy anemone shrimp
saltwaterfish.com says reef safe:monitor
and that it does not attack other invertebrates or corals

you can see the hump in the 2nd and 3rd pics
also it has HORN like structures on its head, not the antennae but a like a unicorn
lol
heres another pics of it in qt

KKil they don't seem to be reef safe and it's a Saron not sexy shrimp. Read this...

Saron shrimp: reef safe? Nope 1/30/04
Hi! I am planning to get a Saron shrimp and I checked your website for more info on Saron shrimps, but I couldn't find anything that says whether they are reef-safe or not, as I've received mixed opinions on them. So, may I know whether I could keep this shrimp in a reef-setting without corals getting pestered.

"an easy one, mate... Saron shrimp are categorically un-safe with benthic invertebrates. They are generally opportunistic and commonly attack bivalves (including Tridacnid clams), harass other bottom dwelling fishes and invertebrates. And frankly are opportunistic scavengers/bullies. Anthony"

KKil -- That's definitely a female Saron shrimp and just as definitely not safe. I don't recognize the color pattern so I bet it's an undescribed species. How much did you pay for it? If you don't want it some of my friends who are shrimp specialists would probably like to have it to study.

Leslie, ur welcome to the shrimp if you can manage pick it up.
I paid roughly $10 for it.
:)
do you have any experience with the saron shrimp?
cuz I'm getting conflicting views thru out the net
for the time being its in qt, alone, but I'll put in some dying zoos to see if it will attack it
leslie, pm me and let me know if you want it, the only problem is I live in dubai, u.a.e and shipping is a pain

Dubai? Oh yes, shipping from Dubai to Los Angeles would definitely be a pain! Let's forget I ever said anything about wanting it :-D

I haven't kept live Sarons. My comments are based on what my specialist friends tell me & what other reefers - who have them - have posted. I don't always trust what LFS websites have to say since they are in the business of selling animals. How many people would buy a shrimp if the description said "Warning, this species will eat everything in your tank"

The problem is, fish & inverts don't read the same threads we do so they don't always know how they're supposed to behave!

lol
anyway I traded in the saron for a cleaner+fire shirmp with another LFS.
but if you need another one I know where to get it
