Can someone help me ID this guy?

It has no brown coloration at all, It's more of a grey body with blue lines. You may be right because I'm def no expert but other than the body structure that didnt look like the same fish.

tangs often loose their color when stressed. Koles are almost completely yellow when juveniles, it takes a little while for them to get dark brown. im pretty sure thats a Kole. and that one looks like its from the Indian Ocean, they are lighter than the ones in the link i added.

I'd say thats a Kole Tang also. looks like one.

and most tangs chnage color as they mature.

several are yellow when young and turn other colors as they mature.

Like I said I've only had him for maybe 2 days now. He has been eating relatively well. He was that color at the lfs and hes been very active so hopefully he's just adjusting.

try saltcorner.com. There are some tangs that look a lot like the kole that are just a shade different, though it surely looks like one in most particulars.

May have an answer???

May have an answer???

I had a fish that was almost identical to the fish in the pics, and when me fish guy and I did research we thought it to be an ocean tang. Maybe maybe not Hope this helps:rollface:

it *might be* any of several tangs, time will tell for sure.

as I and another post said: as they grow they chnage color.

so if it's not a Kole then it's going to have to get healty and show it's self better....

I do not know the full number but there are at least 15 "Tang/Surgeon fish" I can think of.... and the small ones we normaly get are juvis that will chnage color while we have them.

about half start yellow for example.... only 1 or 2 kinds stay yellow.

other color chnages happen in other groups.

to really ID it you also need good photos of the mouth, eye, tail and line pattern and color.

proably a kole, time will tell

definatly not a Acanthurus bahianus Ocean Tang. the snout is the first give away, the spots and yellow around the eye are another.
