That is a beautiful Maxima! As for the lighting, I believe the AI Prime LED will put out 260 par in 12" of water. So I would imagine you are around the 100 to 150 area on your sand bed. That might not be enough for the long term. However for initial light acclimation it will suffice. I would definitely look to find a rock to place it on so it will be closer to the light source.

It looks to me like a crocea, but a strange one at that... Can you get a pic of the bottom of the clam?

Definitely looks like a Crocea. Never seen a Maxima with that mantle pattern but have seen a lot of Crocea's like that. Not to mention my own Crocea.

The scutes look too small to be a squammosa. I agree with crocea.

The clam is a maxima. Crocea's shell are very smooth with few to no scute. Croceas' mantle edge is also smooth unlike the curvy edges of maxima. And Maxima tend to have that very "angled" bottom on its profile view.

That is not true about the scutes. Crocea's have scutes when young and small and as they grow, they tend to smooth out toward the bottom in the ocean but stay pretty consistent in your tank since they don't normally bury themselves between rocks. My Crocea is about 4"+ and the scutes are large, especially at the top 1"

The byssal opening is very round, large and "rounded in" at the edges like a Crocea
