I have a 90 gallon and i ran a tek 8 bulb with egg crate as a cover. I had basically sps some rics and zoos and green star polyps everything was fine. I upgraded my light the Elos Planet II. My sps starting dieing most of them burning from the tips so i thought ok light is burning them. WRONG! Make a long story short i eventually lost all my sps corals but my star polyps, zoos, rics are all fine i can't figure out what is the problem. I tried a digi and green milli that were already under MH lights before i put them in my tank and they were slowing starting to die also. I can't figure it out its been very frustrating because its been going on for like 2 months and i can't figure it out. Like i said most of the sps die from tips down anyone idea's would greating be appreciated. temp 79 s.g 1.024 nitrate ammonia 0 cal 400 alk 9 mag 1400

How are you keeping up your alk cal and mag. Do you dose these directly in the tank or the sump.
I lost a nice blue tip acro because I was dosing two part from the sump but one of the return lines was directly over the coral

i have a ca reactor and the return doesn't hit any of the corals directly my phosphates are 0.1 and my ph is 8.0 and at night 7.9 so that is ruled out also

my phosphates are 0.1

That is WAY high for SPS. I can't say that's what killed them, but it's pretty high. Phosphate hinders calcium deposition, which has obvious implications for SPS.

Soft corals won't give a rip and might even like high phosphate.

i would still check out your alk.. high alk tends to burn out sps.

+ 1 with Harry, SPS whiting or dying from tips down usually an indication of high Alk level.

- Use different Alk test kit (just to make sure)
- did you change salt brand lately?
- How old is your tank setup?
