One of my hammer corals is not very happy and I just noticed this thing attached to it. Could this be the cause of its problem?? Anyone have any idea what this little growth is

I believe you are talking about the little tube worm. If so, no it should not affect it at all. that receding is not good.... What are your parms?

Parmameters
Ammonia 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 PPM
Nitrate 5 PPM
Calcium 240 PPM
Alkalinity 8 dkh
Salinity 1.025
Only use R & O Water
Have another hammer coral right next door and it looks to be doing great.
Was hoping this was some kind of pest that when removed the coral would be happy and get back to its own side

Wall hammers can be quite difficult. How long have you had it? Go ahead and remove the little feather duster, although this may not be the issue. Is the other hammer next to it within striking distance?

Have had both hammers for almost a year. Just did some adjustments to rocks and moved this guy closer to the other hammer to get a better coral layout. Will try moving this one back a little further away and see what happens. Thanks for the idea.
Had a larger feather duster but one day it was gone and I decided it must have died. Maybe this little one is an offspring. Would be afraid to move it incase I killed it.

Copy down the parameters in my sig line and bring yours to match. Wait 8 hours after a dose before testing, because it takes time to dissolve and interact. You aren't listing your magnesium: that should be the first to dose up to level. Then the alkalinity. Then the calcium. Get on this pretty quickly, but don't rush the process. THat coral isn't dying yet, but it will unless this is corrected.

Sorry was a typo.
calcium is at 420
Magnesium is at 1460
Have moved this hammer away from a much larger one and things seem to be picking up for it. Noticed today that it is a little more filled out. Not anywhere near what it was but hope move has fixed problem. Didn't know they would attack each other thought they would only go after different coral.
Thanks to all.

Looks like a wall hammer? That happen to be a newer frag? Heard they are notorious for doing very poorly.
