I have a sohal and Naso tang, both about 6 inches in size that has come down with ick. They both have very good appetites but I wanna treat them before it gets worse. Can they a 2 week treatment of cupramine? And do I continue to feed them in the hospital tank or can they go 2 weeks without a feeding?

They can handle Cupramine ......if it is done right. By your question I can only assume you have not done this before. Some great reading is in definite order. I would type it all out for you but it is a lot. WetWebMedia has a lot of this info already. You definitely need to feed the fish. Garlic soak and VitaChem added to food would help as well. This all needs to be done in a tank that has no coral, no gravel, NOTHING WITH CALCIUM CARBONATE in it. This will soak up the copper and render the treatment useless. But the answer to both your questions is a resounding YES. I would recommend a large tank...like at least 55 gallons for this treatment.

Good luck

I just QT a tang with cupramine for 3 weeks with no problem. Didn't even phase him and he is in my 180 now happy as can be.

agreed copper is probly the most affective on external parasites and if used properly it should not do any harm i have used cupramine once and did not like it ever since i have used coppersafe by mardel and i can tell you that every single fish i get goes into my 6o gallon qt foir a 4-5 week period and i have never had a problem and the majority of my fish are tangs and angels wich people claim to be unsafe to treat them with copper based meds anyu ways all my fish get treated with copper regardless

I have had success with using seacure copper as well. Just make sure that you have a copper test kit to measure the appropriate level to ensure proper treatment.
Good luck

Yes, I've treated them with seacure which is copper sulfate and cuprami\ne with equal success. Cupramine is easier on them and to use in my opinion.
