Can the mantle of a Maxima touch mushrooms?

I have a spot I would like to put one of my clams I bought. Since the clam is small right now, I have enough space.

However the potential is there when it grows (or the mushrooms grow) that they will touch.

Is this okay or do I need to make more space?

put it this way--if the clam doesn't like it --it will move
The clam is going to grow in height--the mushroom just in area--chances are the mantle will be above the mushrooms.

I have some hairy mushrooms that were touching my crocea for weeks, killed off some anthellia (god bless) but it didnt phase my clam...
