Can the skimmer output be redirected to another compartment?

I have to 9010 skimmer installed in the sump. Cam the exit pipe to retrofitted (adding pvc, etc.) to redirect the skimmer output into the next compartment? Right now the output gets pulled into the input because of the close proximity. i would like to redirect this to the next compartment of my sump.

I was thinking adding an elbow to the top and then a short straight piece. Will this work?

one more thing, in another thread I read the poster says you open up the blue air screw to let more air in which will result in higher foam levels and when you screw it in so less air gets in then the foam will be higher. is this correct because i thought it was the opposite.

also, some users have posted that having the water line at about 5-6" produces a much darker skimmate as opposed to close to the blue level line produces a much wetter skimmate. have you found this to be true?

I think the flow rate from the oputlet pipe is so low that the flow through the sump carries this water away before it can reenter the skimmer. I doubt this modification will work. You open the screw to let in more air, but I have seen it happen where in a full open condition the air flow is so much it tears apart the foam column and doesn't skim as well as a more modest air flow. It is generally true that a lower water level will produce darker skimmate but it is a very modest effect.
