Can this head be saved?

I was told to remove this candy cane colony because it was supposedly DOA from a major supplier. All of the heads looked like white skeletons with bright green zoathellae in the center. Surprisingly, all of the heads have come back, except for one in the center.

Is there any way to get the center head to come back? I was thinking of some sort of tissue transfer or some other method to get that head to come back? All I did with the rest of them was feed every few days, and provide good water, but I"m wondering if anyone has had any luck with something like this.

Good job bringing the other heads back.

IMHO, time and patience are what are necessary. It looks like the head still has flesh and the others look good, so let nature take its course. If the head deteriorates, you can always frag it off.

The bright green you are seeing is the color of the polyp's oral disk. Zooxanthellae are usually a brown color and live throughout the coral's tissue, not just the oral disk.

Great! Thanks for the clarification on the oral disk. I was assuming that was algae. Lots to learn!

Let it live! I had some candy cane heads that recedes and where pure white skeletons. Kept it in the tank out of laziness and two of the 6 heads grew back and are now encrusting.

It should make a good recover
