Can this magnet be wet?

Hi All

I just purchased a 6095 and one of the magnets (the larger one) does not seem to be sealed. I was planning to use this in my overflow. Can someone please advise if I got the wrong magnet with the pump?

Yes, it is ferrite which is a ceramic, this is the same material the majority of impeller magnets are made from which are also exposed. It will not corrode, however, metal fragments will be attracted to it and they can corrode so if you see any staining it has likely picked up a staple or some bits of iron or even some ferric oxide phosphate remover.
