can you handle a serpent star?

i want to move my brittlestar over to another tank. can i pick him up with my hand? will he bite me or sting me? he looks scary. it looks so gross. i know not to expose him to air. or do i know this wrong? what else should i know about this transport business?

It's fine. It would be better to transfer with a net or similar structure though.

try and scoop it, don't graban arm or it could break off. it can't hurt you.

no problem picking up a serpent star, and air is okay as well, as long as it's quick (ie the time it takes you to walk over to the other tank).

Just moved one myself a week ago, and he got over the shock (acclimated him first, of course) within 10 minutes.

Now he's out and about, and often fights with my emeral crab for food (serpent star always wins, too).
