I bought 2 boxes of each and my kids took the bags out and I'm not sure which one is which.

Is there a way to tell which one is I/O and which one is Reef crystals?

I need to do a water change and If i can get away with either one I will be fine but since I have been using reef crystals on this tank I dont want to make a mistake?

You could mix up a small sample from each bag to SG 1.026 and check the calcium level. IO is typically around 400'ish ppm, RC should be much higher, around 470'ish ppm.

Another option, if you don't test, is just to mix the two together 50/50 (I've done this for a year now and it's fine).

Mix up a gallon of each to the same salinity. Then measure alk what ever one is higher is the reef crystals. You could do mag or calcium also but the alk test is the easiest test on the market. Are there any numbers on the bags that would be the same on each box Like a batch number

I think Im going to go this route, mix them all together and then only buy reef crystal from now on so I wont have a mix up:headwally:

Thanks for the help
