Good Morning RC,

Here's my dilemma, I purchased two canary wrasses on Friday...and I saw them both dive into the sand after being introduced and haven't surfaced since. Any ideas as to when they'll come out? Possible suicide murders due to sandbed? I'm temped to dig them out in an attempt to reveal these beautiful fish.

Please let me know what you think...

Larry

Don't dig them out. Wrasses can hide for a very long time and "hunting" for them will not help. I know what the temptation feels like but digging will only hurt things.

Hey thanks for the advice Capt!!!! I will not be digging th put. I think I'll just have to patient. How long did it take for your wrasse to appear?

OMG - it has finally come out from hiding. At least From what I can see. And yes, the lights are off in the aquarium....

I had a friend once that bought an entire used 180 gallon set up from a guy and brought all the stuff home. A week later he was sifting through the sand bed of the refugium and found a canary wrasse hiding in the sand. I took the wrasse and put it in my tank. It buried itself in the sand for about 4 days before it came out. I had it for another 5 years before it found a small space in my tank cover to jump through. I loved that fish. :( :( :(

Mine hid for 9 days, then was only out when the light was off & would dive back in if he saw someone. Came home one day & he acted like he owned the place.

They have their own schedule.... I've noticed that right before the first lights go off in the tank, at least one drifts away an dives down into the sand. Very nice to witness.
