I recently got a Frag of Candlelight from Karl at the BACFM, but since then it has peeled and since passed on to the big ocean in the sky.
I know that this piece can be somewhat tempermental. What are your experiences with this piece? Who still has it? Thanks.

Yeah me too.

our 3rd piece was the charm (Finally.. *sigh*). We keep it low, sort of in a bit of a shadow, with decent, but not turbulent water flow. We have been able to have it grow enough to frag it once already, and that cut healed over and is growing again.

In the past we tried it higher up in the tank, in brighter light, and it didn't seeme to like it much at all. I don't remember what we tried for our 2nd piece, to be honest.. but the 3rd seems to be working out well (knock on wood !!).

Here's my Candlelight piece from Karl when I first got it back in September and recently...

I got a piece of candlelight from ... christ I can't recall his name, but he was from Karl's neck of the woods. I keep mine fairly high in the tank under 250s, no direct flow shooting onto it, however my ocean motion does squirt in it's region occasionally.

Also mine never got the brown body that everyone elses seem to have, yet it's not like it's bleached out.. it's encrusted, albeit slowly (but no calc reactor :D).. But I think it's a keeper, I nick named it Mike's Candlelight simply because of the differences in colors that seem to have stuck, although it did come from Karl's colony so it is his baby :D

I got mine from Al G Blenny around last October.

If I keep it at the top of the tank, it turns completely green. If I keep it at the bottom, it turns tan with the green highlights.

I've had it in two different tanks without problem.

I got mine from Peter two months ago seem to be growing well encrusting bright green tips and tan body was a little touch and go when i first got it

I still believe that the piece I got was a little too stressed out becuase of the travel down there and the travel back. I am sure if I had got it here in town, I might have had better luck.

Who is this Karl guy anyway?

I have always been told its a sensitive one. Extended transfers and trips could be probably a little too much for the little guy is what I am thinking.

I knocked a piece into a rock and it didn't survive a day, so Im down to a nub.......some SPS are just a little more finicky than others......could be half the reason they are rare?
