Candy Cane Question

Hello all.
I have read about Candy Cane and all say it's pretty hard and prolific. Mine seems healthy but not prolific since I bought it almost 3 months but it never split. They say it will release tentacles at night to feed but mine just closed up right after the lights are out and stay closed till morning when the lights are on. I've never seen its tentacles.
Could you ID it for me please. Thanks in advance.

In day time

It's feeding time, I don't have the pic at night but it's just closed up tightly

Appears to be a Trumpet coral.

Try this: Turn of the flow in the tank, put some meaty foods on the heads and let it sit for 30 min or so. I would be surprised if the feeder tentacles didn't come out. You can repeat this process until the feeder tentacles are out more often and during the day.

Otherwise it does appear healthy. Have patience.

+1. I have one that doesn't put tentacles out until I put a piece of food on one head. Then all of the heads do it & I feed each one.

I have a couple of large colonies of Caulestrea. I had to figure out what it liked in the way of food. It took me a while but when I tried Oyster Feast and squirt a little directly into the tank, they immediately go crazy and little tentacles immediately start coming out of each head. My Galaxia starts feeding and so does my favia. I love it because I can watch them all eat at the same time and don't have to wait until lights out:)
Good luck!

At first when my tank was less than a year old I had bad luck with them. I liked them so much too I was so disappointed. They would just shrivel up and die never opening for food. Now that my tank is mature I have a white colony a neon green colony and a two tone colony. All are splitting and feeding at night like crazy. Is your tank new? I don't think they need ultra low nutrients or pristine water (probably the opposite).Good luck.BTW they don't look like they are going south.Maybe they open at night when you're not watching :)

Thanks everyone.
It's a 4 months old tank. I feed it once or twice a week with very small piece of shrimp, can't feed Artermia because it's float. I use tweezers and put it into its mouth, it's very hard because of no tentacles and sometimes it spits out.
Sometimes I wake up at night or play chess lately looking at my tank but never see tentacles, I have patience but it almost 3 months so just want to know if mine don't have. Everything is clear now, I will wait till I see them.
1 more question, how long does it take to get those 2 heads to 10. I don't have good equipments so it's the one I like most now. Thanks
