Candy cane: Slimy strands with micro-bubble-like structure

I came home last night to find that there were slimy strands extending from the base of many of the heads on my candy cane trumpet coral. The strands were tougher than say the slime from a brain and were full of tiny bubbles. My fish were pecking at it and it would not come apart.

Has anyone seen this happen before? What causes it?

yes happends to mine all the time not sure what it is

did that happen when you start feeding? was food involved? most likely it is a food-net, uses that to capture little pieces of zooplankton and they retract the strands as well, much like a fishing line.

I didn't feed them last night, but I did this eve and see one little strand. Maybe that's the reason. As long as they are not hurting, I'm good.
