New to a big tank - where do you, canister filter users, place canister and inflow and outflow in the tank?
I have new 90 gal FOWLR (would like to add corals later) near the wall, so canister can't be placed in the middle of the back under the tank - access for cleaning will be blocked. For now I placed it at the side, with intake and outflow not far from each other in one corner. Water is clean only here.
Manual pictures canister behind and under the tank, with inlet and outlet side-by-side, outflow facing to the front corner. This way hoses are kept short, less obstruction to the flow.
I had seen on the web that it would be better to place intake in one corner and outflow - in the other end of the rank, so all tank will be cleaned not just local spot. But that way one hose will be very long.
How high should be canister placed to prevent back syphoning if hose breaks or disconnects accidentally, not to empty all tank water on the floor?
And the last - I have Fluval 404 with highly violent outflow if follow the manual. People recommend spray bar(s). Where should they be located in total circulation?
Sorry for basic questions, but after easy life with nano-tanks it's difficult to change thinking at once.
