Canister or wet/dry?

I am starting a 55 gallon FOWLR and was wondering if an EHEIM Pro II canister filter (#2026) would be sufficient or would an EHEIM wet/dry be better?

yeah both are fine -- i have a 60 and went w/ an eheim wet wry 2229 and a rena filstar xp3 also. I'm not rich, i just searched and waited till i found good deals-got a new rena for $70 and the eheim was $120 new. anyway, I love the wet dry because it has constant water output but then as the canister empties it shoots a strong stream of water --creates a wave effect and in your 55 the water level will raise and lower about 1-2 inches --looks like high tide and low tide. I threw in the customflo starter kit so you can direct the spray anywhere. the rena is really powerful too - honestly the tank could run on either by itself though.
the water movement, live rock, and either eheim would work fine

Just a thought if you ever wanted to upgrade to a reef tank you might want to just start out with one of those wet dry sump deals becasue later you can always add a skimmer and alot more can be done with a sump system, more flexible. I only say this becasue I started out with a canister and a FOWLR tank and ended up switching over to a reef tank and I had to buy A

sorry I hit the wrong button,... I had to buy a new sump. I ended up gutting the canister and just useing it for carbon and more water flo. It just keeps your options open. You can find a wet dry rated for a 120 gallon tank for around 140 online and even cheaper used so its just a matter of whether or not you might want to upgrade in the future. If I had to do it again I would have gone with the wet dry sump to begin with.
