Canon 7D or Rebel T1i

I know, different animals, but let me explain.

I previously had a canon 10D, which has since broken. I have decided that I for sure want to stay with a canon SLR (already have the lenses, etc)...And I have also decided I want to be capable of HD video.

So with all tat said, I am not sure which of the two is better for me. I tend to have the philosophy I rather wait and buy the right product than buy something I wont be satisfied with. But I am not sure if the 7D is really worth the extra 800bux. I am looking for owners to chime in, as well as an general opinions. My thoughts right now:

* The extra frames in the video for the 7D would be nice, but not needed....it will still primarily be for still photos, i just want the options
* I am not sure how much the extra 3MP will give me with the 7D over the T1i
* The extra FPS in shutter speed with the 7D would be nice, but I am not sure if it will really matter
* I am more familiar to the use and format of the 7D (I assume) because of already owning a previous 10D

So I am curious on your guys thoughts....is there anything in the 7D I am not thinking of that would make it worth the extra money for my needs? Do you think any of the things I mentioned above are serious flaws? Will I be disappointed changing from a 10d to the rebel line?

Just looking for any input from people who have considered a similar decision or own both cameras. Also looking for a perspective from reef photography since that is most of what I do. Thanks

If you were getting it done with your 10D the 500D is going to be better in every way. Have you held a Rebel? If not, do so and if it feels good buy it and save $800.

The 7D is targeted at fast moving wildlife and sports.

If you're used to the 10D body, the Rebel will feel very small.

The 50D might be a viable option.

I went ahead and ordered the 50d today. After going to the camera shop and trying out a rebel, you guys were right. I would not be happy with stepping down to it. Also finding out that video could not auto focus, it seemed a whole lot less viable (i dont want to take many videos anyways, just thought the feature would be nice if it could do reasonable HD). So I decided to go with the 50D.

Thanks everyone, stay tuned for photos ~.^

You'll like it :) I use the 50D and besides a few small things, it does everything I need and more.
