Are any of you using a Canon G9 camera? If so what settings are you using to get your closeups? What settings are you using for your top down pictures?
I never use my G9 for tank shots (I use a 40D) but I suggest setting "AV" to the lowest number you can (f/2.8 zoomed all the way out) if your zoomed in you can only go to f/4.8 (bleh). The object is to get shutter speed up. If you can't get a high enough shutter speed (I like 1/250) then turn the "80 100 200 400 800 1600" knob on the left to a higher number. Just like magic your shutter speed will go up. The unfortunate trade off of course is image quality.
I like the G9, its a really nice camera. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to get nice shots using it.
