Canopy build/mod questions.

Wanna be studly? If the canopy has a back piece on it, you could, in theory, build a lower box (and try to match the stain color but in reality you'll probably have to sand down the original and re-stain the whole thing to match) and then install gas-shocks that will essentially raise the new canopy when you release some sort of catch.

Yeah.. That'd be cool. I want that.

Fry's Electronics is notorious for customer service. Far too often, either the employee is an expert and a snob, or completely clueless.

My wife once asked an employee where to find a PDA, like a Blackberry or an IPaq. He sniffed, looked down his nose, and replied "If we have any of those things, they'd be over there somewhere," and pointed in a general direction across the store.

Your best bet is almost always to know exactly what you're buying before you set foot in the store.

I've only been there once, it seemed like all they worried about was if you were stealing from them. Selection was, eh, they had a ton of stuff but nothing that would make me buy from them instead of the internet. And I don't think I've heard of a single good experience about going to the store involving being helped.

One a PLUS side the store looks like the the freakin' temple of DOOM!

Okay... Need to fix the heat problem yesterday. My tank hasn't gone below 84 in 2 days. (Though I have the temp probes in the higher side of the tank, don't know if it matters) I'm going to make a trip to radio shack to hopefully pick up some cheap computer fans (don't want to go to the temple of FRYS) since OF COURSE I threw away all my misc computer parts in my recent move, figuring I need to stop being a packrat. Bollocks to that.
If the fans don't controll the temperature a little better, I will be forced to build the new canopy on payday (wed) as I haven't seen any adverse affects to the coral or fish yet but I have a feeling they could be doing MUCH better. Why oh why did I move to the desert? Hahaha

There's always the 6 inch clip on fans for emergencies too!
We bought our canopy from a guy on e-bay for 300 shipped. Then we stain/seal and put it together.

PS. The tank is just about ready for it's critters.

SWEET! Can't wait to see that tank up and running again. Was definitely sad times having to tear it down.
