Canopy on tank?

I'm getting ready to setup a 125 gallon system and I was wondering if anyone favors or unfavors a canopy on top of a tank.
I do not have a canopy on any orther tank but I'm thinking about building and mounting custom lighting in a canopy.

Im building a new tank, and i have decided to go with a canopy. On my current tank there is alot of light spill over in the room and it can be annoying when people are trying to watch TV and are not used to it. It depends on your lighting though and the formalness of the room, if i had an fixture that sat low on the tank (Tek T5, Solaris LED, PC's, etc...) i would go for the more modern IMO no canopy look, i am running MH so it sits much higher.
