I don;t think I've ever seen a Moorish Idol SMALLER than 4".

A mimic tang is a worse choice than a Yellow. They get bigger.

I have a Small Scopas in my 72 bowfront, if thats what you need to hear.

The only way to have large tangs live in a 4 foot tank is to introduce them in factors of 3 like 6 or 9 at a time.... Then they will constantly fight so much they will never realize there cramped conditions!

Dragon:

Now that your quest for knowledge is complete in order for you to provide the optimal environment for your fish, could you take a minute or two and explain just what it was about Joe’s posts that answered your question(s) when so many others failed to do so?

I realize communication is often difficult on these boards and replies can be misunderstood or taken out of context but it just leaves me wondering why you ignored post after post in thread after thread that explained why your fish choices would not work yet one person says it is ok if you leave plenty of open rock work and you latched onto that one piece of information. Further why do you feel the need to “help” others on their choices when you don’t have the knowledge and experience to do so in the first place?

If you think about it, people with no financial interest in your system have taken the time and effort to help you “plan ahead and do it right” as you put it , for the benefit of your livestock yet the one person, you, with the most to loose decided to go ahead and do whatever.

Yes it is your tank and your money but if you are complaining about the cost of your tank, which many would state is one of the lower costs in the hobby, then why would you make choices that have the limited possibility of success?

Don't get a Moorish Idol...please.

They have a Very High Mortality rate in the Home Aquarium.

Try a Simple Scopas tang, very hardy, good lookin fish.

I thinking about a kole they stay small and can go in my tank beside that I would like to say thank you for all the time you guys have taken to help me out on this thanks again

kafudafish i didn't mean to upset you
i did not know any of his stock levels or rock work structure he plans, and i felt the yellow and the scopes where the best two choices of the four given

dragon what is your intended stock list? u said u dont even have lr in there yet?
will you be doing a build thread?

Yes I will my stock is or a kole a white stripe maroon flow or a pair of perc clowns a manderin a bicolor blennny and a pinkspott goby maybe one other fish don't know yet

definitly dont do a heptus tang, they are sensative and can reach up to 16 inches in the right conditions. a 90 gallon just isnt big enough. as far as a moorish idol idk who told you they get 4 inches, the smallest ive seen has been about 5 inches and the largest ive seen has been about 8 inches im sure they can get larger than that, but thats besides the point, moorish idols are best left in the wild as are alot of fish species, some fish just suitable for the aquarium and often die and quickly. if you like moorish idols id suggest a banner fish which is in the butterfly family, they look very similar but the banner fish stays small enough for the 90 and is very hardy but if this is a reef tank then stray away as they may nip soft corals and clam mantles. a yellow tang is a little bit of an aggresive tang and can reach from, what ive read 15 inches and yes they need swimming space. a scopas tang is the best choice here as they a more peaceful than a yellow tang i believe they only reach 12 inches but again swimming space is needed, but if you get it when its small i believe you can keep it alive and well in your 90 for its life span. just make sure to feed any of these choices which ever you go with a good source of spirlina algae as this is their natural diet, without algae your tang,m rabbit fish, or buttefly fish will slowly die. first they will start to fade in color, then they may get white blotches on the body, in some cases they may get hole in the head disease or later line disease. be sure to offer algae at least twice a week to keep them healthy, but more often is better. ocean nutrition makes garlic enhanced green spirliana algae strips. grab a pvc pipe, pretend your back in college and roll up some algae like a tight joint and rubber band it to the pipe and drop it in. this will give the fish the feel of its natural feeding habbits of tearing algae from rock. hope this helped out- matt

I would like to thank reef central again for all that theyve done and I do have some experience on saltwater fish just not tang they are all new to me be fore this I harped a corner witch I didn't keep a tang in and before I joined here I kept a 10 gallon nano but know that I know about purple tangs be really agressive and a 90 being borderline with them and the such I have made my desision on a kole tang thanks guys I really appreciate the help this pole was to determine majority like the purple tang thread was more people said no than yes omit so no purple so kole it is and yes todddrex it will be named todd

Hey I sent you a PM. Hope you read it. Thank you for the comment.

Ok thanks that's what I'll do a yellow or a kole thanks

LoL.

Way to take the one answer you heard that you liked and ignore the rest.

Please choose a fish, record your fish list, then revive this thread next year to let us know how many of the fish are still alive. I bet it won't be all of them.
