Can't Decide Which Salt to Use

Is your Test Kit Off or your Water not at 1.026

I used Reef Crystals for 5 Years (About a Box Per Month) all were Tested and none were ever anywhere near 9 Alkalinity.

Much Much Higher.

What do you Test with?

How do you Measure your Salinity?

Test alk with salifert and Red Sea both
Use a refract calibrated weekly with 35ppt solution and floating hydro for confirmations and quick checks. I never use a single point for testing.

Lets not turn this into a car debate, buuuut: volkswagen owns Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche.
Also, then there is BMW, Mercedes etc etc.

Back to reefing: Royal Exclusive, Tunze, ATI, Koralin zucht, Ehiem, Korallin, Aqua-bushke, Aquamedic etc etc. all are known to be superior brands in the hobby, simple as that.
Hobby wise, there really isn't any ground to stand on saying Germany doesn't make the best products.

Just kidding around.

Of course he told you, that is what company supplied propaganda is. He's a liar taking advantage of ignorant reefers. You are paying for the shipping....

And how do you know he is Lying?

Seriously.

Is it Possible? Sure.

But most people are Honest (You seem to think Everyone is Dishonest).

Why Lie?

Get caught Lying and think what that would do for your Company.

I cannot believe that you immediately say it is Propaganda.

You never even spoke with the guy.

Haha exactly what I thought of when the German praise began.

Besides what happened recently (I am not car expert bye the way).

I am pretty sure Volkswagon has been known to make very reliable cars for well over 50 years.

I had a friend who Drove a Bug that was 30 Years Old and didn't have any problems!

Over the years I have read posts with pictures from a wide array of people who have had amazing acro tanks with the cheapest salt to the priciest salt. I have a feeling that they simply understood what they were buying and how to use it for their needs. Perhaps they tested it before using it, trusted it to be consistent, or whatever... but I highly doubt what salt you pick will be the deal breaker between a great system and a sub par system.

When I am done setting up my new system in the next few months I will use my 5 to 7 year old bucket of TM for the cycle... finish it up.. and check out my local area for the best deal on salt. Find something inexpensive and close to NSW. I used to get good deals on TM but that store closed years ago. Seems like Red Sea is really pushing into the LFS arena. I see it everywhere.

Cough cough

Volkswagen.

I think that was more of an issue with not taking the EPA seriously than it is with the quality of the products. I own one, have owned others (no diesels mind you) and they are good cars.

When it comes to many things the Germans can't be beat - Just ask most people with FW tanks how they feel about their Eheim filters, for example.

Where's it actually being made? Germany, US or China?

Where is what being made?

I have a friend who bought a brand new VW and had it actually qualify for the lemon law, they bought another VW different model, and it too was filed with the lemon law again.

Of course I know other people with other brands who have had issues as well.

You must not work with the public.

Will admit, that gave me quite the chuckle. :lmao:

I do agree with you, the TM rep could easily be lying through his teeth, so who really knows?
Again though, knowing how Germans "roll" when it comes to manufacturing, it wouldn't surprise me if they used purer ingredients than US based salt brands.

Lab tests for comparing impurities would be the only real way to know for sure.

Anecdotal evidence can say or 'prove" anything.

VW is the worlds largest (or second, they go back and forth with Toyota) automaker, you don't get there by building junk. They were the first automaker with a dual clutch transmission, they were the first with direct injection, they were building small turbocharged engines on a huge scale years and years ago (decades) long before it was the new trend it is today with virtually every manufacturer. Being the first always leads to some growing pains but they are not afraid push the latest tech to market which drives the other brands to do the same.

Dude relax. I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything, I'm just making conversation about the subject.

Though I'm not sure how we went from salt to cars.
