Ok i just upgraded to a 210 which will be sps with a large bioload, and I am looking for a skimmer with a 12inX17in footprint, can anyone think of any neither the das ex 3 or reeflo 200 will work.
If you can swing the price. The reeflo would be good. Take a look at the new Octopus 250 also. It maybe big enough, but I'm not sure. Check out premiumaquatics. They have good prices on skimmer and Jason is pretty helpful.
yes it would. And im not saying that you have to go my way. I just think that $800 for the bm250 is a bit unreasonable for what it does. It is a nice skimmer, i know some people who have them and have seen them in action. Im just partial to buying a skimmer that allows you to choose the pump you want that works best for your situation and relies on the skimmer itself to do the job. Makes it a bit more versitile in my opinion.
I should have clarified that im looking for an external nw, i just moved my fuge over and now I have a 15.25 in space that i could fit a skimmer, but the gap in the door is only 12in wide so could i put a skimmer in piece by piece?
well you will find that there are a million different opinions about which skimmer is "best." There are a lot of good skimmers out there, and a few great ones. My vote is still for a Bermuda, and your setup is similar in size to mine (i have their 5C model www.bermudaaquatics.com).
I will say that an important part of your decision should also be service. I shopped for a long time to until i decided what to upgrade to ( I had an ETSS 800 before), and the service with Bermuda has been outstanding. Very prompt responses to any inquire i might have. That means a lot to me in this day and age....but everyone's different. I will say good luck in your search, i know it can be overwhelming.
monty most skimmer's are all about the pump why don't you bring that 5c into the store and watch it get shut down by the bm250 oh wait you like shelling out the big bucks for all those mag's you have on your system
I guess the big question is do you want it to sit in the sump or do feel comfortable with it out.
Rwinfry-if you're challenginging me to a skim off, i accept. Id love to have the chance to show you the hundreds of dollars i saved to have a more versatile skimmer that wasnt all about the PUMPS. And that mesh wheel, whatever that does
