U mentioned the calc was 480 above now 450-460. That sounds like its not too stable. Also a one dkh swing through out the week is enough to irritate some corals. What pump do you use to top off the kalk? Im not a huge fan of kalk because the evap rates change periodically. Not saying it doesnt work obviously it does. Tell me more about the led pendant, im very curious

Yes, I had changed the water just before that sample. It settles back down after a few hours. My topoff pump is a MJ1200 it pushes in and out of the reactor with a 1/4 inch line.
On a side note.... The stuff above you called xeina is actually waving hand Anthelia.
Easy coral to mis ID. Thats normal for it to look like that. I like it because it has alot of movement. When people who are not savvy to salt water aquariums see the tank it's always the first thing they ask about.
The LED pendants, I think I'm going to sell or run them over my frag tank. I have not been happy with them and I may just go back to 250's. They are from
www.aquariumleds.com. I thought they would be worth the gamble for about $170 each. Looks like I got ripped.

Ohh i didnt know, i thought that was xenia, thanks for pointing that out. I use to have pulsing xenia and its true, non reefers love that coral!
May i suggest you change the top off pump to a peristaltic pump or tom aquatics vaccume pump? If it works for your application It would reduce the kalk shock to the tank. There could even be sone precipitation if added too fast.

I did consider doing that. However, the MJ1200 is pushing through around 18 feet of line, the reactor with a check valve, and about 3 feet or vertical rise. By the time it comes out of the line in the sump, its nearly at a drip. Also, it's dumping into the 2500 gph return of the display so it gets mixed very well.
