Can't Keep Bangaii Cardinals Alive

I've given 3 shots of keeping bangaii cardinals in my tank in my 2 yrs of reefing and I can never keep them alive.
I am so irritated that something so simple just won't stay alive. I've had more delicate fish that are still alive.

What's the deal w/ these guys? I bought two of them a week ago and all they did was hover in one place all day and not eat, and I found one dead today and the other nowhere to be found

:mad2:

Many Bangaii's are caught with cyanide.

It's a slow death.....

If you can find someone who does captive breeding that would be the way to go.

Captive bred shouldn't be too hard to find. Have you tried www.liveaquaria.com I have had good success with them for fish. I bought my Threadfin Cardinals from them. At least if you don;t have success their guarantee is amazing.

I just bought 3 captive bred banggai's and so far 2 have died. No signs of distress or disease, all were eating, quarantined for 2 weeks. My water parameters are sp 1.025, pH 8.2, amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrate <5 ( the lowest my test kit measures). This morning when I got up, 1 was on his side on the bottom having periodic spasms. It was only when spasming that he could breath. I moved him to quarantine but he died within the hour. The other one was found dead 2 days ago. I NEVER have fish die like this. This was my first time getting cardinals and I am not sure that it was a good choice.

WC bangaii cardinals are not nearly as hardy as TR. They're so easy to breed and raise, it should be no problem getting them this way. TR are almost bullet-proof. At one store I go to the owner had said that if the tank is crashing, he'll just keep them in the toilet until it's ready again. They'll be fine. While I don't think they're quite this hardy, they are usually pretty tough to kill unless they're beating on each other, or being picked on by something else in the tank.
