So, don't try to say I am the only one being completely anecdotal.
What I was saying was, you are telling him he would be wasting salt and it would be useless to do a water change with distilled based on the 1% of examples out there. I am saying that if 99% of the time one method is better then the other, and if those are his only two choices at the moment, then he should try the one that has the higher chance of producing better results.
"It takes me an hour to get to work on my bike. Im starting to be late and its causing problems. I can take the bus and it will get me there in 25 minutes. A car would get me there in 10, but I can't get one right now. Should I take the bus to work for the next week?"
Your answer is, "It's not worth it, it would be a waste, just ride the bike and keep being late"
