Can't seperate magnets!!

I bought three of the latest magnet holders you got.

The first one, I stupidly removed the foam block seperator and the two magnets slammed together.

Needless to say, no amount of twisting and pulling can seperate the halves!!!

HELP!!!

I tried inserting two screwdrivers in between and twisted but I ended up damaging the surfaces and I sure as hell do not want to break the plastic framework!!!

Just HOW do you seperate the magnets??

:D

place edge of one magnet on edge of counter top hold other"hanging" magnet tightly between both hands and close to your belt buckle apply full weight of your body in a downward direction sliding the magnets apart. as they slide by the magnetic attraction becomes less and less. then place your belly against the magnets and countertop to prevent magnets from finding each other again. If doesnt work get someone heavier to do it. And dont get any thing in that area stuck between them.....Ouch

Twisting them or sliding them against the counter is the only way, they are extremely difficult to seperate.

I'm trying to keep fingers and other portruding body parts from being caught inbetween... :D

Oh well.... looks like I have no choice!

Thanks guys!

do you have a table mounted clamp? You could try clamping the bottom magnet and then try the sliding trick mentioned about. The clamp should ensure they the bottom stays put.

ok here we go.

get a large spanner and a flat head screw driver with a thin blade I used an electrician screw driver with about a 4 mm head.

Ease the end of the screw driver between one end of the magnet (helps if the screw driver is smallish and has a wedge shape) once you can obtain a gap between one end place a spacer or spanner in between. now do the other side and do the same if all goes well you should now have the spanner between both sides at the top of the magnets.

slolwy push the spanner down and as it forces the mags apart place another spanner in between the magnets.

the goal is to get two spacers inbetween the magnets a steel spanner worked for me. Once you have a gap you can ease them apart further by using a thicker spanner or spacer.

I stuck the larger mags together and had them apart in 5 minutes with no fafing about.

Oh and do not try to use the screw driver to lever them apart, you just want to use the wedge shape as the blade gets thicker to do all the work. As such place the mags on the floor standing up and push the screw driver downwards, once its inserted you can rotate it 90 degrees and then isnert the spanner at the top of the magnet.

mind your hands if you slip it may be messy.

I have the smaller magnets but I had no problem getting them apart. While holding the magnets up to my stomach,I twisted the magnets as I slid (pushed) them in opposite directions.
