Captive Bred Genicanthus watanabei

Just want to share a short video of some Genicanthus watanabei that I raised from eggs. The fish in the video are all G. watanabei and are 87/88 days old. The golden colored fish have not completely settled out with adult coloration yet. The larger adult colored fish is about the size of a dime.
I hope you think they're as cute as I do! :)

That's awesome. Congratulations! Do you have a description of how you raised them? I would be very interested as these are some of my favorite fish.

Karen,

That's fantastic. I bought a couple of latezonatus from you a while back and they were perfect. Keep up the amazing work. You make me want to move to Hawaii.

Congrats.!!!....great job..another first i guess.....

super cute baby...how long was the larval period....?

Thanks everyone.
I do plan to write up what I did and share it but it's just 40 pages of notes now.
Basically I started with wild plankton then added in cultured plankton.
In terms of the length of larval phase it depends on how you look at it. The larvae started showing benthic behavior at day 50 and started showing adult color development at day 80. Currently they eat anything I offer them as long as they can fit it in their mouths, even the larvae that are not completely settled. This includes frozen foods and flakes as well as live foods.

These are really cute in person... tiny genicanthus are pretty cool, and you hardly see them this small wild caught.

Awesome job !
