capturing LED lighting?

is it just me or is LED lighting really hard to capture? Blue ends up SOOO purple.

I'm using a Canon DSLR Rebel T1i (which I know is MORE than capable).

Any suggestions?

I'm pretty new at using decent cameras, so please talk baby talk haha.

Thanks for any advice.

Good suggestion by robow. Most of our tank lighting is very blue, which is very difficult for many cameras. If for some reason you don't want to shoot in RAW, you can also do a custom white balance. Just take a white, waterproof object (those 5g bucket lids work well), angle it at 45 degrees under the water and take a picture. You can use that picture to either set your custom white balance (it's one of the menu items) or use it to set a white balance point in post processing if you shoot in Raw.
