I just went outside to get my Mountain Dew out of my trunk and my car is gone/stolen. Police are on they away. Who would want an 03 Grand Prix with 140,000 on it?

Hope it was fully insured! If so, you may come out better since it had 140K. Still a PITA either way. I just hope they don't retrieve it after someone took it off road. My sister had her jeep stolen and they messed up the suspension real bad. Insurance paid but I don't think it feels right anymore.

It's a Grand prix, that's why.

Sorry for your loss, Phil. Bummer.

So what exactly are you trying to say Kathy? THey stole it because it's a Grand Prix, or it's a PITA because it's a Grand Prix, or both?!?

Phil, sorry to hear that man... I'd vote for some sort of car alarm if you get a new car, or when you get this one back. ROy might be right and you will be better off, it's just teh hassle of having to have things fixed.

It has full coverage. I got the car free a few years back as part of my severance package. KBB says it is worth $8000 and that is what I will more than likely get from insurance, but I cant buy a new car for $8000. Insurance has been notified-I do not have rental reimbursement under my policy. Fun!!

Edit-I forgot I had 100lbs (2 pails) of this in my trunk-maybe they will think it is coke and snort it, or just throw it on each other.

I am sorry, Hope you come out ok, I know Steve got the bad end of the deal when his was stolen.

You'll get screwed too. For some reason they impound it BEFORE they call and tell you they've found your car. I had an old FJ40 stolen and not only did I have to pay the towing fee, but they found it on a Fri. and called me late Sat., the place was closed Sun. so I had to pay 2 days storage.

Phil...didn't have the PassKey system on it? The key with the computer chip that shuts off the ignition system unless the correct key is inserted?

If you get it back go through the car thoroughly before you drive it away from the Police impound. My dad's car was stolen in Vegas a few years back. It was recovered after a couple of weeks. As he drove it home from the Police impound yard he found a loaded gun (not his) in the console storage. He immediately pulled over, looked in the trunk, and found his phone answering machine as well as similar stuff stolen from other homes.

I'm sorry for your loss. Last summer, my car was stolen. It was found at Mizzou and towed to an impound lot in Mexico, MO. (Mind you, there's about 5 other impound lots closer that were passed by).

These people were the scum of the earth. They wouldn't take cashiers checks, they wouldn't take money orders, they wouldn't take personal checks.....they would only take cash. The impound fee was $480 and my deductible was $500 so I paid them. I highly suspect they had my car for several days before they called me.

When Mr. Green-teeth opened his WALLET (i.e. not a cash drawer or cash register), he probably had 10 grand in there. Frankly, I don't know how he sat with that wallet in his pocket. I asked him for a receipt and he told me that, "My car was my receipt...do you want it or not". Mind you, they wouldn't even give me the company name or address until I got into town. Then they told me to call on my cell and they would tell me how to get there. One of their employees stole about 50 of my CD's. The case was right there in plain sight and I told him that the case was mine. He insisted that it wasn't mine and again, re-itterated, "Do you want your car or not?"

They don't know this yet but they are about to get audited. It helps to know people in the IRS. Steal from me and you'll pay the price.

That sounds like the place they took my car about 3years back.
Rude as heck. Only cash, And they didn't want anything higher than a $20 bill. I could tell they went through every inch of my car too. It cost my $460. for 1 day. They charged me mileage from Highland to some town almost in the middle of Mo.

Rena,

It's probably one in the same. They didn't want large bills either.

They are about to get their due....and then some.
