The May meeting is coming up soon. It will be at Carbon Hill Elementary School on May the 19th at 11 a.m. This will be a "work" meeting to do some maintenance on the school's tank.

The following is a list of items that we are needing if anyone has a spare:
1. .25 inch garden hose adapter for RO unit
2. Egg crate for tops
3. Salt and/or RO water
4. Carbon and small bag

Please let us know what anyone can spare and who will be coming. Food is going to be provided by the scholl's princapal :)

May meeting-work day

May meeting-work day

I spoke with the principal just a few minutes ago, she said that Nitroq2 had the RO unit installed. Skimmer still not installed. 2 new electrical circuits installed. She is planning on serving food for us so she needs a head count by the middle of the week. I told her we were going to do maintenance on the tank and someone(philip or Mark) would do a demonstration on tank husbandry for her and whoever else is going to help her maintain the tank. So CARC members let us know if you can make it next saturday. Dobb

Good news. The new electric circuits were needed for "flicker" in the lighting due to the Seio 2600's on the controller. This is a dedicated circuit just for the aquarium. So if the RO unit is working we don't have to worry about bringing water. Let us know on the headcount folks. See you there hopefully :)

I won't be able to make the meeting. :( I will be at the airport that day getting on a plane at 6:30am.

Mark we won't need the adapter for the water, I picked up one at home depot and went and installed it Wednesday, and she was making water when I left. If anyone has a portable TDS meter please bring it so that we can test the filters to make sure they are working ok. Mine is an inline, I can unplug it but kinda hate to go through that trouble. I was going to install the skimmer that same day, but ran into problems again (say it aint so). The gate valve mod that was shipped is standard PVC and will not fit the existing skimmer return without some modifications . I think it will allow us to do what was planned and dump the return back into the other side of that divider in the sump. However, looking at it we still have the auto top off to install and will have to also try to wedge the heaters in somewhere as well. I am not sure if the sump is going to hold everything. Dobb said he and Philip went up and looked and Philip thought that maybe we should move the return pumps out of the sump and make them external. That would definately help, but I dont know about with those pumps. My mag on mine is mounted external, and it works great that way. She really needs a larger sump or at least one deeper front to back, and with the proper dividers in place to give it the correct depth and maybe fuge area. Wednesday the tank was free of any algae and the last time I seen it it was alot worse than mine is now and thats bad. She made the addition of some large turbos and a rabbit fish and they worked like a champ. Also Dobb found that one of the pumps was off on a visit up there a couple weeks back. Again the sump is going to be an issue, that will need to be addressed one way or another during the meeting. Now back to that skimmer, and the gate valve mod that was ordered. Basically one side of the 1 1/4" joint will need to be made a little larger in diameter. I was thinking about a cylinder hone like used on automobile engines. Unless someone has a better idea this is what we will try. It only like maybe an 1/8" or less. Thought if it was done that way then it would still be perfectly round and with a little pvc glue it should work like a champ. I plan to attend this meeting unless something changes.

What size tank are you looking for the sump. I have a sump/ fuge that I built out of a 30 long dont know if it'll work for what you need, I dont remember the exact dimensions of the compartments in the sump I'll have to go to my storage unit and measure it here's a pic

However, I cant make it to the meeting this weekend...its my B'Day and I've already made plans to be out of town

cant make it, kids have ball games @ 11:00 & 12:00. then its off to buy sand and rock for my daughters tank

Due to most everyone having either prior commitments or things just catching off guard, the meeting has been postponed. Sorry everyone.

Let's resechedule the meeting SOON. I want to help. Is there a way you guys can connect my alabamareefers email to my google email account? It is the only email I check regularly. I dont want to miss another opportunity to help out !

I'll fit it in when ever everyone else want to do it, have some stuff planned for the next couple of weekends, but I can bend the times around as much as needed
