Cardinal with cloudy eye?

I just discovered my cardinal has a cloudy eye. Coincidentally, I had an outbreak of red algae (forget the name) this week as well. Could the two be related?

An unused 10 gallon tank I could use for a hospital, but not a lot a medication lying around. What should I get immediately and how much time do I have?

When my clown had the same problem I just fed him mysis shrimp soaked in vitamin c or zoo. It cleared it right up for me in a few days. Try that it might work
