Care Magnet and Acrylic

I got a Care Magnet Strong to use on my 1/2" thick acrylic aquarium. I read the warnings and I know Acrylic is only quasi-supported but I wanted to try it out.

I cleaned the back of the aquarium and everything was fine and the magnet was doing a wonderful job, but then on the side I believe I got a scratch. As I was going back and forth with the magnet horizontally, I think one of the ends sort of dug into the aquarium and left a vertical gash about the height of the blade.

The location of the scratch isn't a big deal, I don't even need to buff it out because it is so far out of the way. However, I'm not going to use the magnet anywhere else if there is a risk of the blade scratching on its own even if I'm careful not to pick up any sand or anything.

So just to double check everything before I pick a different style of magnet: Did I configure the magnet correctly with the two shorter blades? If so, is there any other even softer blade available?

It is configured correctly. Later this year we do plan to introduce so new blade options, including one specifically for acrylic. It is odd that this blade scratched, it is polyamide which is a fairly soft/resilient plastic. The wide ones contain glass fiber and that is why they cannot be used, they will slowly scuff up the acrylic.

Has the acrylic issue been resolved?

There is no issue as long as the directions are followed and the 45mm blades used. We do not yet have a wider acrylic safe blade.
