I am thinking about getting a Caribbean Reef Octopus. I want to put it in a 30 gal tank that is connected to my reef system loop. I have lots of live rock and a skimmer rated for a 300gal system (the total loop is 130 gals) . Is it ok to have the Octopus tank in my reef loop? What is the temp needed for the Caribbean Reef Octopus? Will I screw-up the reef? Any input, would be greatly appreciated.

you should post this in the cephalopod forum for more responses...if it is a Caribbean species then i am sure it will be accustom to the warm water..can it stuck in the loop? certainly....will the little bugger try to escape? most definitely..if you stress him out enough to make him in, i m sure that will have some negative effects on your reef...

Inking isn't a problem, the ink is non toxic, in fact they make soup out of it and if you buy canned octo and squid in the grocery store they pickle the meat in octo and squid ink.
The problem will be the octo escaping. Make sure the tank is escape proof and I don't see a problem. 30 gals is small for some of the bigger octo's but there are dwarf octopus from the caribbean that should work in a 30.
