Carpet Advice

I would like to get my pair of clowns to host in an anemone. Unfortunatly I have percs and they do not have many natural hosts other than a carpet anemone. I would like a caprpet, but have some questions/concerns.Keep in mind I have a 75 gallon tank that has been running for over 2 years now. Here are my questions:

Do you think my tank is large enough to house a carpet?

Does it make a differance if I get a giant carpet vs. a saddleback carpet?

If I do get one of these guys do I need to worry about my other fish or will they keep their distance?

I do not want to sacrifice my tank and inhabitants by making a bad decision. Thanks.
 
percs really will host in about anything. we have a pair in a toadstool, a pair in a long tentacle, and a pair in a bubble tip.

carpets are a big decision. they need very high light, and i have heard some horror stories of people losing fish to them. Not to mention they are very dangerous for even YOU to handle as opposed to other options

Yes I have heard this. Unfortunantly I have a BTA, Frogspawn, bubble coral and 2 toadstools and they do not care.

This is my concern. This is why I am looking for feedback. I would think fish would avoid them but I am wondering what peoples experiance has been with them. I would also think the percs would chase away fish getting to close to their host.

Hmmmm...this seems like more of a gamble since LTA's aren't a natural host. I know clowns sometimes host in many things, but I am hoping to increase my chances by using a natural host.
 
Sometimes they don't go back after being out of one for too long. I doubt you will find one they wll host in if there not in something you have already. IMO
 
When I say long tentacle I mean Ritteri. They will take host in a standard long tentacle, but usually after several monthes. IMO
 
Ritteri needs special care and intense light, I'd onlty reccomend that for a species only tank.
Offshore do you have any experience with ritteri's?
 
I am not sure what special care you are refereing to... A/t has has one in their show tank for years, under vho lighting.
 
research my brother, don't give bad advice, Im pretty sure that is also a rose bubble with no bubbles. When greg gets them in they got to the tank with the 400 mh.
 
From what I have read ritteri are the hardest anemone to keep. Not that carpets are easy, but my understanding ritteri are even worse.
 
Yeah, thats what I've gotten over the years. I've always wanted to do a species only tank with one. There about the coolest looking anemones IMO

I had a carpet stick on to my hand when I was 16, the thing didn't let go I had to put my arm under hot water to get it to release. Talk about pain.
 
My mistake , he pulled the ritteri out last year . I just got off the phone with greg , He has a bubble and a long tentale in there right now. The Clowns live in the long tentacle. and as for things that are hard to care for , so are sebae anemones, as you will read they will only survive in captivity for a few monthes, come over and see the one I have had for over a year and a half. Dont believe everthing you read!!!

You have a sebae or a ritteri?
 
I don't believe everything I read, going on 18 years with reef tanks I usually try everything once or twice.
Got any good deals at your place your the guy that sells out of his house right?
