Carpet Anemone Behavior

I have had a green carpet for about a week and has been eating great and is well planted into the sand. My question is that yesterday I noticed the carpet sucking itself in like turning inside out or something like that. Anyway, I thought it was dying and I was ready to get rid of it. I left the house for a few hours and when I got home i noticed it was back to normal again sprawled out wide open acting as if nothing were wrong at all. Is this kind of stuff normal behavior for carpets?

normal for all anem's to open their mouth to expel waste, bones, etc. usually they will do this every couple of days or even daily.
If it dies you will know by smelling it.
