hey guys

so while i was almost sure about my list o fish i wanted a little more help from the experinced about keeping carpets

i understand that these guys arent the easiest to take care of and i am going to wait a few years before i put them in the tank along with some halide lighting and lots of water movement

my questions are how fast and easy would maroon clowns settle in them
would a male blue throat trigger, porcpine puffer, and dogface puffer be harmfull to them and since i would probably be getting them off aquecon would a red neon green and blue be able to live togther (they would all be haddons)

thanks

Haddons are the easiest carpets to keep, but have a reputation as fish-eaters. I don't know if they're natural host for maroons. A BTA is and might be a better choice.

By the way, Aquacon has a terrible reputation. I would not order anything from them, but especially not something delicate like an anemone. Google "reef central aquacon" and you'll get an eyeful. There are much better online resources available.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the tip and i wont try them, but someeone with experince would be helpfull if they could chime in

also could someone suggest a place where i could get all 3 of theese

Not sure about triggers and puffers, but for the rest, here's mine

I've had two cleaner wrasse go missing, could have been the carpets..

I did have a juvenile trigger, but had to get rid as it started nibbling on my lobo ...never went near the carpets

I had a 12 inch blue hadoni carpet for a pretty good while well over a year ... it ate all sorts of my fish... so much so that all I had in the tank after getting him was damsels.. becuase I "could afford" to lose those. I love the anemone but eventually decided it had grown larger than I had room for and that it would be better off in a larger tank...

I liked it so much I got a small mani maxi carpet (I think that is what they are called .. its redish maroon with green tint on the edges about 4 inches across max) The minimaxi ?!? has eaten two skunk cleaner shrimps, but so far my damsels are all accounted for.. its been in the tank about 6 months now.

I would not house a puffer or trigger with haddonis.

Further, IMO it's better to search locally for anemones. I've heard many stories where they dont ship well.

thanks for the input everyone and i guess ill stick with a green bubble tip mainly because u were talking about how much of fish eaters they are

also do u know any other species that come in diffrent colors because lots of diffrent colered anemones would be cool and is kinda what i was looking for

Just to add another experience, even though it seems like you decided lol, I'm not sure what kind of carpet we had, but it took out a tang, several damsels, 3 clowns, and an eel. (from what we're thinking anyway) We just took it out of our tank last week; really bummed about it, it was gorgeous and really brought the tank together.

The bubble tips come in a variety of colors too :) but stay away from condys they are fish eaters also.

thanks for the suggestion and sorry about your carpet

at least you know your fish will survive now though :)

right now it looks like im going to have a green and 2 red bubble tips with 2 clarkiis and 2 maroons (any issues with theese guys in 210 gallon)

I wouldn't mix clowns... Especially maroons and clarkiis. They will almost certainly fight (Maroons are very aggressive and clarkiis are no pushovers either). It might be ok for a little while.

When you say "a green" are you talking about a carpet? Because you won't want to mix anemones either. They give off chemicals and will "fight" as well.

okay so ill stick with the clarkiis but also i was wondering if more than 2 could be kept in the tank possibly?

and sorry about the confusion i meant a green bubble tip anemone (bta) , why the btas fight or something because of color differences?

Thought I would toss some in as I have kept haddonis with all the species you wanted to. Kept a pocupine puffer a dogface puffer and a humu humu trigger with a 14" haddoni.

The nem ate both puffers over the course of a month. Puffers are somewhat clumsy and ended up swimming into the nem not paying attention apparently. The trigger did ok but he got dangerously close during feeding time to the nem, one touch to a haddoni and they are goners.

Also kept some BTA's with those fish, did not have any issues with it. Just remember puffers are coral eaters, they like polyps stonys and everything inbetween. They just never seemed to go for the nems.

Different colored bubble tips should be completely fine together.

allright thanks everyone for the input

really glad i could keep nems with puffers, just love how theyre fat and always happy
probably gonna try my l;uck with one along with 2 nems (green and red btas)

I wouldnt keep puffers with anemones. They love to sample things and can be quite destructive. There are tons of stories out there where puffers have killed anemones (and vice-versa with haddonis).
