i have had my 55 gallon going for around 5-6 moths and i want to get a carpet anemone never had an anemone before are they hard to keep? sugestions on it parameters are all good i dont want to pay alot of money and it die so i want to know some info about them. please leave some info thanks

I wouldn't start anemone keeping with a carpet. Try to pick up a captively propagated BTA. Check with your local reef club. Once you are successful with the BTA, then think about moving on to some of the more difficult and expensive anemones.

^^^^THIS

Unless...if you can find a carpet in an LFS they have had for a few months it will be very hardy for you.

how bout a Haddoni Carpet Anemone they are like 40 bucks at the lfs

What lights do you have?

Do you have a sandbed? If so, how deep?

How much flow do you have?

What other wise do you have?

I personally wouldn't recommend a Haddoni as a first anemone. While I found them fairly hardy (( once settled in )) they can be pretty fickle to changes in the tank.

If its been at the LFS for atleast a month and you have the space for it then I say give it a shot. I should have qualified carpet with Haddoni BTW. Give us some more tank info... lighting, current stock, etc.

I have to agree with Tod. There have been some VERY experienced hobbyists right here on RC that lost haddoni's after keeping them alive for several months. I would not suggest this species for someone without anemone experience. Just my 2cents.

metal halide lighting about a 3in deep sand bed no corals atm have false percula clowns cleaning crew coral banded shrimp and a couple fire fish. i have a koralia 4 powerhead

my 2 cents...

if you ultimately want a carpet anemone i would start with a carpet anemone.

however, if you're going to start with a carpet anemone i think you have to do a lot more homework before you get an anemone. regardless of what you start with, IMO, the first time you get a carpet is going to be a unique experience, even if you've kept BTAs or LTAs before, so i don't think keeping those gives you that much of an edge if you don't do your research and learn the proper husbandry for a carpet. again, i think if you want a carpet, go for it, but you have to do much more homework and be prepared to be much more thoughtful about your husbandry if you do.
