Carpet Anemone question

My green carpet anemone is emitting a substance that looks almost like smoke. What is this and should I be concerned?

What color is it? And how long have you had it? If it is brownish in color, it could be either waste or some of its zoax

If it is white, it could be spawning. If it is spawning, it would look like this,

30 seconds seems pretty short. Granted mine has only spawned once, but it lasted about 45 minutes. Whole darn tank was cloudy.

Looks like he's been doing it in intervals because he's still doing it. I'm only concerned because he is shrunk up smaller than normal and I wasn't sure if it was dying and releasing toxins into the tank.

Yea, there should be a few pauses, wouldn't be surprised if it does it for a while. Anything happen with the tank lately?

Mine looked like a tulip during the process,

Where is normally looks like this,

Nope no problems and all my other fish/corals seem to be doing just fine. Just concerned as I am only recently converted from aggressive to reef so my knowledge of inverts and corals is more limited.

Mine took about a month to look back to normal after the event. However, I am thinking that in my case the spawning was caused by stress. My main pump had failed while I was in the hospital, and my temp and salinity got all messed up.

How long have you had the anemone?

I have only had it for about 6 weeks

Hmm, wondering if it was stress related. Do you know you water parameters?

A little off subject but Todd, did you get any reaction from the green haddoni I see in there?

None, and I was hoping that I would. It has been about 5 weeks since that happened, and nothing.

Well I just removed it from the tank it was definitely dead. Salinity is about 1.025 and temp is steady. Phosphates are very low but I just checked the nitrates and they are off the charts all of a sudden. I tested less than a week ago and had no problems so I really have no clue. I appreciate all of the help anyway though.
