Carpet claimed another victim.

I found this perfect spotted mandrain yesterday. When I say perfect, I mean she was small healthy and fat! I was so excited I could hardly wait to get her home. I acclimated her for about an hour. When I put her in the tank I let her go in the left bottom side. All pumps were on and the flow was cranking. she got caught up in the current and went with it, right into my carpet:

I was quick and before the carpet could close up all the way I was digging here out. She was still alive but stung really bad. She lasted for about 2hrs after that, I was so bummed out
:sad1:

On a good note I was missing my Whiteray goby for a couple of days. I thought it was a goner. When I change the filter sock I found the goby in there nice and healhty and it bit me.

Sounds like my luck...Saturday i bought a nice wrasse and i havent seen it since putting it in the tank. I ckd the floor, overflows and all over the tank thats visible without destroying the corals and rock...no sign of it. :(

Yeah, I know how that feels.. You sound like a kid who just dropped his Ice cream cone on the sidewalk on a hot summer day... So much anticipation and then a big let down! Sorry dude! Go getcha another and try again! :)

Know how you feel!! :(
We just got rid of our carpet after figuring out he ate our really nice Naso tang and several green cromis.

I'm very sorry to hear about your Dragonet, I can't believe he just went with the current - that is just way to bad.

I'm not sorry about your Whiteray goby at all - that is cool you found him! And he had it in him to bit you - good for him-LOL. You've probably already fixed the problem but what I found with my Yellow watchman is that he could get into the little small crack in the overflow where the returns come in. The current would take him right into it. I plugged that and he's never taken the E-Ticket ride since.

Thanks everyone, another lesson learned....make sure my pumps are turned off before releasing another speciman into the tank.

Now the search continues.
