Carpet Dying??

I think my carpet is dying. I got him less than a week ago. He seemed to be doing okay until about 2 days ago. It seems to roll over at night time so it's foot is in the air & day time it opens up partially.
This morning its mouth was WIDE open and white liquid was coming out of it's mouth. It was completely shrunk.
Any ideas?
Water conditions are solid - had them checked by the store a couple days before I got it - Nitrates are 0-5, nitrites - 0, ammonia - 0. Salinity - 1.023, temp - 78.
Running skimmer, carbon, purigon in HOB filter. Hitting it with a 250w halide phoenix bulb.

What type of carpet?
Your salinity should be a bit higher, 1.026 or so, 1.023 will most likely stress the nem.

I think it was a Haddon's Green Carpet.

I had my gf bring it back to the store. It doesn't look good. Seems it's insides are disintegrating.
