My wife bought me a carpet anemone. Its been in the tank 24 hours, foot firmely planted and looks great exept for the mouth is gaping, tenticles quivering, very stiky, has good flow, would like help with an ID. The LFS that it was purchased from did not have very good lighting, using VHO lighting and had very little flow. The salt water "expert" only told her that it was a carpet????????? This is her only tropy in the tank please help..........

I answered your other question, so I can now ask to see a picture. :) But, do you know what the underside of the oral disc looks like? Is it smooth, or does it have little bumps?

How much is the mouth gaping? And was it gaping at the LFS?

The underside of the oral disc seams to be prety smooth..Its gaping quite a bit at this point as you can see in this picture But its not quite as bad as it was. It was not gaping at the LFS. Hopefully this pic will also help with a possible ID! (by the way thanks for helping with the uploading proses)

It is a Haddoni, and a nicely colored one at that.

The month is a concern, hopefully it is just it getting used to your tank. It is a fine line -- need to provide enough flow to help it do some internal water changes, but not so much flow that it ticks it off -- Haddonis aren't fans of a lot of flow.

For now, keep an eye on it, and hopefully the mouth will close up. I have seen them go down hill fast when looking like this, so make sure to keep checking it.

very beautiful haddoni... You should also try target feeding it some cut up silver sides or krill when it gets a little healthier and adjusted, but don't try and force feed it. Make sure to cut it up and just feed it a little every few days.

It looks like a haddoni to me as well. If it was only under VHOs at the LFS, and you have 250w MH, that could be the reason it isn't happy yet. That's a big change in lighting. Like everyone else said, keep monitoring it and provide good conditions.

Anemone still looks good except for the gap.Tenicals arnt as sticking as b4.It seems to love the the light looks better with the lights on(as far as the gap goes)Tried differrent flows its all the same. Its been excreting the last meal and ive been blowing it away by hand. The reason i know it likes light is i was changing my timer for the lights the other night and missed the cut off time. The lights stayed on all night tilll 5am looks better than it ever did as far as gap is concerned. Any thoughts.

THNX IN ADVANCE

Another update she is still sticky just lifted her up to move sand under her foot and she stuck like b4.Also bumped the lighting were not going down without a fight!

I would be careful about giving it too much light just now. Don't want to add to its stress.

Could try putting some window screen b/t the tank and the lights.
