Carpet Nem on its way, Need advises

you tried to feed it a silver back? how'd u get a gorilla? just joking. Nem looks good, it may not readily accept food right away..but if its still sticky thats a good sign....should be VERY sticky.

Some people on this forum have had bad luck with feeding silversides, reporting deaths of the anemone after feeding. It took my purple haddoni around 4 days to start feeding. I feed both my blue haddoni and purple chunks of krill, squid, and some PE mysis, sometimes soaked in selcon, which they take down pretty quickly.

Thank you, During the one week of light acclaim, most of my SPS went brown on me, not looking its best right now. give me about a week, I'll have a FTS up, stay turn.

Yeah, I'm no fan of silversides.
I wouldn't even worry about spot feeding for a week or two, let it settle, maybe some mysis.
Small pieces of shrimp or scallop are all I ever spot feed my nems, mysis on fish feedings.
I thought it looked kinda close to sps in the one pic, good on trimming that so it doesn't bother either.
Looks real nice, I'm sure your clown will come around.

UPDATE
- I feed the nem last night with a raw shrimp, this time with better luck than the Silver side.
- The clown fish still don't know what to do with the nem.
- I decided to order an anemone crab, and it should arrive sometime this week. Anyone have experience with the nem crab?

That's one nice looking Nem crab. unfortunately, I won't be getting my this time. I got a call from the store that I placed an order, and they told me that they're out of the Nem crab (bummer), in any case I will wait and maybe add another clown to pair with my current one.

Question for anyone:

Do you remove the shell of the raw shrimp when feeding it to your Nem?

I do yes. Only cause it takes extra effort to regurgitate it later. I know this cause lately my fish have been being dumb and deciding to venture out after light out and venturing into the Haddoni. All thats left is a compacted pile of bones!

Still new to all this and don't even have my tank up, but I think carpet anemones are by far the most beautiful. How do you guys curb the problem of your carpet anemones eating your fish?

You can't really. The fish that mine has consumed in the last three months were all mostly my fault. The first two (and all relate to the lights just being turned off) happened when I really wasn't thinking and switched off the tank lights then 2 secconds later dimmed the room lights to almost nothing till I saw a pink streak out of the corner of my eye which was one of the anthias diving into the nem, followed by a chromis as I turned the lights back up. The Most recent was my 5 inch copperband that I can only assume was looking for a midnight snack and ran into the anemone. Two days later it regurgitated the bones.

Sorry to hear that, once they start going downhill their seems to be little you can do to help it recover, hopefully its nothing though. I recently lost my purple haddoni a few weeks ago, was doing great for a few weeks than started the downward spiral.

Everyone, Thank you for your interest and your advises.

:bounce3:Two good news:

One my Nem is still kicking. I adjusted the light by moving it higher about ~13 " above the water and it seems to help. I also try feeding it with raw shrimp. after each feeding, the Nem seems to have more life in it.

it has also relocate it self to the middle/back of the tank where light is not as intense. I can't really see the mouth, I but think its getting better.

I also did a large water change. I have noticed, each time I do water change, the Nem always open up and responds really well.

As a bonus. the other good news is my long lost mini maxi Nem have return from where ever it has disappeared too for the last 3/4 months. this guy was gone the first week I introduced it into the tank and I thought it was dead. to my surprise, I saw it on the very top of the rock.

as for my water perimeter, everything are rock solid. as evidenced by the heath of my LPS corals and SPS.

I'll have more pictures up for you guys when I get a chance.

I have not update this thread for sometime. First off, here is the FTS.

After a long waited ~ 6 months, my Picasso clown finally host the nem :bounce3: Its was one of the best day of my reefing experience.

I do have some concern about the health and behavior of my Nem.

- It'll not attach its foot into the sand bed or rock. It just float on the sand.
- unfortunately, it likes to be in the back facing the rear of the tank (where light is less intense).
- every time I do a water change, it'll attach its foot to the rock. After about a week, I'll release it again.

- The overall health of my tank could not have been any better, as you can see.

My light combo: 6x54 T5 + LEDs

Any thoughts and suggestions?

What do you have for flow? Is your sig correct for it? For that sized tank (( think it is about 150 gallons, if my conversion is correct )), that is a lot of flow for an S. Haddoni. I would try to turn down the flow for a bit, and see what happens. Any other anemones in there?
